Preparing a new moodle server for production...

We are getting ready in a couple days to switch over from our old server that has housed 12 moodle instances to 3 new servers.  Each server will host between 3-5 moodle instances.

As I was looking critically at the instances, I noticed that the notifications was reporting that I should change the display_errors value in the php.ini file.

I edited the php.ini file and changed the display_errors value from On to Off then restarted Apache. I then refreshed the notifications page and saw the message go away.

I did at one point EDIT THE INCORRECT PHP.INI file, located in the php path rather than the Apache path.  I will use the shortcut to the php.ini file via the Wamp menu from now on, that will ensure I do not open the wrong one....dummy.

Also, updated the debugging setting, turning off errors to the screen and enabling a robust debug option to the error log.

Moral of the story?

In preparation for a production move, Turn off error reporting to the screen, html etc and turn them on to a log file.  Safe and smart.
