After logging in at turnitin, I followed the directions provided in this document on how to configure your LDM, moodle in my case, with turnitin. I choose the Moodle Direct install package and downloaded it.
After unzipping and copying the folder into the root of the mod folder in my installation, I was greeted by the very familiar moodle update screen.
Before allowing the installation to continue, I completed the required steps of configuring my moodle environment a bit more. This software make me look in my php.ini file and ensure that i had curl support enabled. I looked and already had it enabled. Moodle requires it during the setup of the server environment. I also had to add a new line to my config.php file, $CFC->dbpersist=false; Self explanitory, but still makes me a little uneasy. This is the first plugin that I have installed in moodle that has required me to modify this file.
Besides the zip file that I downloaded from the turnitin configuration process, I also was able to download an installation guide from this page. http://turnitin.com/en_us/support/integrations/moodle-direct#userManuals
I am stepping through the administration set up guide now and configuring moodle accordingly.
Once the install was complete, it took me a few minutes to find the configuration interface for the new plugin turnitin. I found it
- Site administration
- / ► Plugins
- / ► Activity modules
- / ► Turnitin Assignment
I logged back into the turnitin.com site and saw my account credentials, including a little 5 digit # at the left of the row.....duh duh!!
Once I had supplies that number and the shared key specified during the installation, I was able to make a successful connection from my moodle server to the turnitin server.
When I click on green configured button, I see this interface, indicating that i have configured using Moodle Direct,
