I created a new moodle instance recently and gave it an internal ip address so i could test a few things prior to the official DNS name being registered by our network guys. In other words the site address was
http://xx.xx.xx.x/flss, which I could browse internally and do my testing and configuration.
When ready to expose the site to my new customer, I need to register the new site name like
http://flss.moodle.edutech.org. I remember a page I used previously that is a good solution for searching the instance DB for references to the xx.xx.xx.x and replacing with flss.moodle.edutech.org
It took me a few minutes to find the utility, it is located in moodle 2.4 at this location
admin/tool/replace/
Just browse to tool/replace folder and the interface loads that looks like this:
In the (text) after each search area, it says the previous server URL and the new server URL, which in my case is EXACTLY what I am using this utility for!
I do not know exactly how many references were updated, just a lot in many different tables. The operation took about 10 seconds to complete.
