URL content options...

I discovered something very useful today.  We have lots of courses with lots of content URLs.  We tried initially to set the default display option to Embed, but that ended up getting changed to pop-up window. 

My customer then asked me if we could default the pop-up window to a larger size, which I have been using a script to update the activities.

Today, I was working in a course, adding content, when I started to get annoyed that the pop-up window does not have any toolbars and is a little limiting.  I wanted to open content in a new window, like a pop-up, but with full browser options, toolbars etc.  I wondered,

Why can I not open a new window?

I search and found this discussion, which had the excellent point that you can edit URL options in the admin settings.  Of course.  Everything is obvious in hindsight, right?

Site Admin | plugins | Activity modules | URL.

There it is, the new window option NOT selected AND default pop - up window sizes.

I made the changes, saved the options and edited my content URL activity and saw my new option, new window.

Moral of the story?

Check the default settings for things that may be there, but are not active.  Use the forums, thank people who post useful things in the forum, like Mary Cooch
