We have high school teachers delivering some pretty sophisticated courses in our moodle. Some of the courses make more use of the gradebook than others. My customer, the school *principal, likes the teachers using the moodle gradebook too. So. her is the scenario that we are running into more often this fall.
The teacher takes control of their course, by removing an activity or two from the course page. The activity is actually not removed, but is hidden by the teacher. This removed the item from displaying in the course page to the student, and greys out the item in the gradebook.
We have customized the gradebook in most of our courses to include an ungraded category, where we have to MOVE GRADED ITEMS INTO if they are closed/hidden from the course page.
Move the hidden activity to the Ungraded category!
In other words, hiding the graded activity does NOT deactivate in the gradebook calculations. The item seems to still be included in the summation of the grade. We have to move it from the graded category to the ungraded category.
Dimmed out activity moved to the Ungraded category in our courses gradebook configuration.
