Assignments upgrades (automatic) sort of moodle 2.2 - 2.6

I am preparing for a pretty big upgrade in the near future, which i will provide more detail for in other posts, but today, in my testing instance, I saw something for the first time.  Moodle upgraded the infrastructure of the assignment module in version 2.3.  This is not a surprise, since the assignment is a very popular and complex activity in moodle.

To arrive at this point, I set up a test instance, where I started with my moodle 2.2 DB backup and upgraded it to 2.3, then, 2.4, 2.5, and finally to 2.6.  Today, while testing updates to a custom theme, I clicked on an assignment, to see what the breadcrumb trail would look like, and was greeted by a moodle form like this:

As you can see, there are A LOT of assignments in our courses in this instance.  I selected about 100, and send it on its way.

This is the report that showed after completing the upgrade.

This is interesting and hopefully will not cause any future disruptions.  Here is a moodle page describing the detail of the upgrade.  This assignment FAQ provides good explanation and not so technical examples / rational of why the upgrade.
