Sounds simple. Sort of simple. My customer contacted me the other day with this "James, can we get rid of the enrollment key for course bla bla".
This is moodle version 2.6. I looked at the course in question and saw two enrollment types active on the course. One manual, which I left alone, the other Self Enrollment - which is the enrollment type that contained the enrollment key. I clarified with my customer that they did not want a simpler key, and to continue to allow self enrollment in the course. She said they do all the enrollments and wanted the key gone.
I instructed her to simply remove the Self Enrollment type, which contained the key.
That should do it. Now students must be manually enrolled by someone BUT, the annoying computer generated enrollment key is no longer necessary.
Tradeoff = away with annoying enrollment key, BUT reliance on someone to enroll student account in the class.
