Updating files and references in moodle

On my moodle site - we have an annual pdf guide that is updated.  sound familiar?  I uploaded the new file to the site.  Moodle treats it as a resource (file).   I can get the id to it by copying the URL when browsing the file.

I then go to the two places on my site where this file is referenced, and edit/update the URL to the file.
