When we consume course data via the LTI method in moodle, there is no UI option to change it, the number of points the activity is set for that is. No where in the moodle interface where i can change the pre-assigned value of a graded activity.
LTI = Moodle consumer (slave) - vendor provider (master) Got it? Good.
We have a few courses that are delivered exclusively via LTI. In moodle version 2.6.11, there is no feature or ability in the moodle UI that allows change to points for an activity delivered via LTI. It simply is not there. See for yourself!
Moodle UI for LTI provided activity.
Trust me when I tell you there is nothing in this interface to change the points. Try editing the item from the Grader report - and trust me again, you can see the points assigned the item, but you cannot change it here.
It did not occur to me that the item delivered via LTI, has a corresponding record in the moodle gradebook, it must, since moodle is showing grade values in the own gradebook. I missed this point for a year!. I thought since it was delivered via a provider, that the points showing up in the gradebook were also part of a record in the lti cloud, but that is NONSENSE.
Why would the LTI service bother itself with details of all those items deployed to someone else LMS, like moodle? It would not! It did not. Only know I see that. The record containing that grade value is in the local moodle db, even though there is not UI for it.
It took a student reporting an issue with a item that according to the provider, was worth 50 points. Moodle had it valued at 100. I looked in those interfaces above and convinced myself all over again that we could not change the graded value. I was even 3/4 of the way done composing a response to the teacher about our options, which were
1) override the grade in moodle in context of 100 points, rather than 50
2) delete the item from the course 3) contact the vendor and let them.......
and that is when my eureka moment arrived.....look in the DB! Edit the value in the table, dummy!
