Adding a media gallery plugin to my moodle

I was moving some content from a BB schoolworld LMS to moodle the other day and encountered a lot of pictures.  As I was pondering how best to handle all those pics in the moodle, I ran across this nice media plugin from the moodle plugins site. https://moodle.org/plugins/mod_mediagallery

I downloaded the most recent version of the plugin, since my moodle is now at 3.1.  Unzipped it and copied it into the mod/ folder of the instance.  I touched the Notifications page on the site and the Plugin updater kicked in.  Install no problem.

Next, I went to my new course where I was moving content into from the BB site, turned editing on and added a new media gallery activity.

I realized quickly that the media collection liked a zip file as its source.  I was able to save a bunch of images from the BB site into a folder I created.  Upon completion, was able to select all the images in the folder, and send them to a zip file.  I am using Windows 7 OS.

I was able to then drag the zip file into the media collection.  One source file, 30 pictures, all imported and displayed like this.

I was able to create the gallery, and then choose import items in bulk - that produces this form with zip file import.

This is the result of my work...this image gallery is publically visible.  Great job moodle!

Images are all resized too, made uniform, which works much better then when varying sizes.

Moral of the story?  Moodle dominates with its dizzying array of options and plugins.
