One of my school districts that I set up a moodle instance for last year is now actually using the instance. I have been working with her the past week, getting things set up like, LDAP configurations, permissions, accounts. etc.
The "a-ha" for me today, when I checked into the site was this:
She, Lisa, is a technology coordinator/director type. She is using the moodle as a repository for information that she needs to share with the teachers. By getting them onto the moodle for her stuff, they will start seeing the moodle as a teaching tool!
In other words, by using the moodle as a information sharing portal / repository, the teachers will gain a comfort level with the moodle, to then be willing to start using it to complement their classes.
Baby steps. Teachers are busy, in demand. The need time / exposure to moodle to gain a comfort with using it in their classes.
Moral of the story?
Get the folks onto the moodle.
Try to look at things from others perspective, not yours. It is informative.
James, just wanted to show my appreciation for this blog. There aren't many around that provide the day-to-day, sage advice that yours does. So from this Moodle admin/trainer/all-rounder - thanks!
ReplyDeleteNick - thanks for the encouragement. Blogging helps to process and understand...you should do it too for your moodling, and send me the link ;)
